As a Bomber athlete, Penny Curtis ’70 competed in basketball, field hockey, lacrosse and swimming & diving (she was a member of Ithaca’s inaugural varsity teams in field hockey and lacrosse) and was named the top female athlete in the class of 1970. Curtis spent 20 years as the volleyball coach at Mount Holyoke College, leading her teams to the NCAA playoffs in 1982, 1983 and 1984. She was elected first vice-president of the Volleyball Hall of Fame in 1993.
