Hill, who served as the Dean of the School of Health and Physical Education from 1929 to 1957, was a major reason Ithaca College athletics got off the ground in the early 30's. He brought in collegiate baseball Hall of Famer Bucky Freeman and one of the nation's top soccer experts, Doe Yavits, as coaches, and maintained a top sports program despite the Depression and a high caliber of competition. He also built the College's School of Health and Physical Education into one of the finest in the country.
