Joe played Bomber football and was captain of the 1947 squad. A member of the Upstate All-Star Football Team, Corcoran was named one of the top 11 IC football players from 1942-49. He started the lacrosse program at Ithaca College as a player-coach in 1948. He also was the first head lacrosse coach at Eisenhower College in 1978, after 21 years as a teacher/coach in the Corning City School District.
