Ithaca College Athletics

John retired in 1978 after 33 years of coaching baseball and basketball, and 13 years as director of athletics at Tuxedo HS. His baseball teams won 13 Section 9 championships and the cagers took home the crown 11 times. He was New York Daily News Coach of the Year in 1968 when his basketball team was 20-1. At IC, Mottola played four years of baseball, three years of basketball and two football seasons. He had a 19-1 record as a pitcher for the Bombers.
