Gideon Hawley '36 was one of the great athletes from the early days of athletics at Ithaca College. He was a versatile performer, earning letters in five sports including football, soccer, baseball, track and field and basketball. He led the Ithaca men's basketball team in scoring for three straight seasons. Hawley was a physical education teacher in Albany until 1960, when he became the Assistant Principal of Albany High School. He retired in January of 1970 and went on to run the Interlaken Lodge at Lake Placid, N.Y.
