Fazio was a three-year letter winner in baseball, soccer and basketball. He had a lifetime batting average of .360 at I.C. and was a standout in the 1962 College World Series. In soccer he was a starter at forward for three years and averaged 10.2 points per game on the Bombers basketball squad, while also shooting over .500 from the floor. Fazio was named co-captain of all three teams his senior year. Fazio went on to be a top performer in the International League, and in 1969 he was awarded a silver glove as the best fielding third baseman in the minors while playing for Louisville.
