Justin Lutes joined the department in November 2014 as Assistant Director of Athletics Communications. In August 2016, he was promoted to the Associate Director position to lead the office. Prior to his arrival on South Hill, Lutes worked at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. for nearly four years as an Associate SID.

During his time at IC, Lutes has covered 18 individual national champions, 154 All-Americans, 17 CSC (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans and a pair of national runner-up finishes by the women's track & field team. He has also overseen the implementation of the department's official Instagram account and expansion of live webcasts at home events, which has broadcast 25 of the College's 27 athletics programs. Lutes is also a co-chair on the Ithaca College Athletics Hall of Fame committee.

Most recently, Lutes helped oversee and develop the establishment of Ithaca College's Park School of Communications student-run creative media co-curricular program that employees a select group of students to run and manage all 27 team social media accounts on Twitter and Instagram. This group is responsible for all photo, video and graphics content that is published to the official team social media accounts.

While at Stevens (2011-14), he served as primary contact for 14 of the 26 athletics programs offered at the Institute. Lutes covered 20 All-Americans in seven sports and helped grow Stevens' social media presence on Facebook and Twitter through game day promotional events.

Lutes also spent two years in the athletic department at Susquehanna University (2009-11) and one year with the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as an Asa S. Bushnell intern in 2008-09.

He graduated from St. John Fisher College in 2008 and earned a bachelor's degree in sports management with a minor in communications. Lutes was a four-year member of the baseball program at Fisher and was a two-time all-conference performer as a relief pitcher. During his junior season, Fisher made its first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division III Championship at the New York Regional in Auburn, N.Y. and posted a school record 28 victories at that time. He was the winning pitcher in Fisher's first NCAA victory against Skidmore - a 6-5 triumph in 11 innings. During his senior season, Lutes set single season records for appearances and saves. Upon his graduation at Fisher, Lutes ranked second all-time in career appearances with 51 and career saves with seven.

In July 2016, Lutes was inducted into his high school athletic hall of fame - Charles O. Dickerson High School. He earned eight varsity letters in three sports - baseball, bowling and football - and graduated as the school's all-time leader in strikeouts with 168.

Lutes is a member of College Sports Communicators (CSC), as well as a voting member for the D3baseball.com and D3hoops.com Top 25 Polls on a weekly basis, the NCBWA Weekly Awards panel, and the AP Division III Football All-America Team.

Born in Charleston, W.Va., Lutes grew up in nearby Trumansburg, N.Y. and currently resides in Locke with his wife, Kate, and their daughters, Laney and Lydia.
