2016: Raced in eight meets this season, including the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, where she finished with a time of 22:29.90…Earned the NCAA bid after the team qualified at the NCAA Division III Atlantic Region Championships, where she finished with a time of 22:07.30…Earned First Team All-Conference after placing 9th at the Empire 8 Championships with a time of 19:13.70….Member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team.
High School: Mertz graduated from Milford High School where she earned six varsity letters in track and field under head coach Gabby Pederson. Over the course of her career, he set nine school records and helped her team become 2015 Tri-Valley Champions. Mertz was a five-time first team All-Star selection from 2010-15. She was Section 4 Champion in the 200 meter, 4x800 meter and the Steeplechase. Mertz also earned five varsity letters in soccer and four varsity letters in basketball.
Personal: Emilie, daughter of Jerry and Gwen Mertz, is a speech-language pathology major.
