2012-14: Cherney attended Tompkins Cortland Community College.
High School: A 2012 graduate of Ithaca High School, Cherney earned four varsity letters under track & field coach Gary Hunter. Cherney helped lead the team to two state and two national titles. He holds several meet records, a sectional and school record in the throws. Cherney also was a member of the wrestling and soccer teams.
Personal: An economics major, he is the son of Debbie and Jerry Cherney.
