Biography
2014-15: Metzger was a seven-time all-state and a three-time all-conference honoree after he helped the 200-yard medley relay, 400-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay teams finish second overall at the Empire 8 / UNYSCSA Championships. He had the team’s fastest 50-yard freestyle time of the season with a mark of 20.99, using that time to take fourth overall at the state meet. He also placed seventh overall in the state meet in both the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle. He was a contributor on the 800-yard freestyle relay team that finished fourth at the UNYSCSA Championships.
2013-14: Metzger earned all-state recognition after taking seventh overall in the 50-yard freestyle at the Empire 8 / UNYSCSA Championships. He also competed in backstroke and relay events throughout the season and was part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team on Jan. 25, 2014. Â
2012-13:Â Metzger took first in the 200-yard individual medley, finishing the race in 2:01.3. Metzger also competed in the 200-yard medley relay, the 100-yard backstroke (taking third) and the 200-yard backstroke.Â
High School:Â A 2011 graduate of Lewisburg Area High School, Metzger earned four varsity letters for coaches Jerry Foley and Jamie Flick. He was a state medalist in the 200 free and 100 back and a district champion twice in the 100 back and once in the 200 free. Metzger also qualified for and attended YMCA Nationals.
Personal:Â A biochemistry major, he is the son of William and Annette Metzger.
