PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team concluded its regular-season schedule on Sunday afternoon when it traveled to Philadelphia, Pa., for a cross-divisional meet hosted by NCAA Division I Temple University. The Bombers posted a season-high team score of 189.650, but ultimately settled for fourth place in the field which also included Division I University of Pennsylvania and Division II Southern Connecticut State.

Ithaca posted strong performances across the board, which included a season-best score of 47.200 on the uneven bars. The team total in the event was just 0.150 off the program record for team score in the bars event. The Bombers also topped 47 team points in both the vault and balance beam.

The action was highlighted by several excellent performances. Ithaca had three gymnasts set new out-right personal bests, while three more tied their previous best career marks in a great overall day for an IC squad looking to get a top-notch tune-up for next week's NGCA Northeast Regionals.

Ithaca's top overall event finisher on the day was sophomore
Carolyn Nichols, who tied for sixth place in the vault with a 9.700 score. Although the second-year has had some slight wobbles in executing her extremely difficult vault in recent competitions, she performed the double front handspring to a tucked dismount to perfection to notch her second highest vault score of the season.

Freshman
Baylie Trammell marked a 9.600 in the vault to finish in a tie for 11
th. Sophomore
Victoria Gery came in 16
th place with a 9.525, while junior
Melissa Hollrigl tied her previous career best with a 9.475 to tie for 18
th.

Ithaca's most impressive performance on the day came in the bars, as Ithaca had everyone top 9.175-or-better for the first time this season. Trammell set a new personal best with a 9.700, besting her previous score of 9.650. She finished in 10
th place to pace IC's group.

Junior
Danielle Maffuid tied her previous career best with a 9.525 to post a 17
th place finish. Juniors
Mina Shernan and
Kelly Nash also posted Top-20 finishes, coming in 19
th and 20
th, respectively, with scores of 9.425 and 9.375.

The balance beam was the Bombers' top scoring event of the day, as Ithaca marked a 47.950 in the event. Freshman
Emily Szembrot, junior
Hannah Donnelly and senior
Lynley Choate each scored a 9.675 to come in a three-way tie for 12
th. The score was a personal best for Szembrot in the event.

Paige Landes also marked a new personal best in the event with a 9.650 to come in 15
th place.

Rounding out the action for Ithaca on the day was floor exercise. Szembrot continued her excellent day with the top score for IC with a 9.475. She finished in 17
th place.

Nichols finished right behind the IC rookie in 18
th with score of 9.450. Gery came in 19
th place with a 9.425, while Landes capped the Top-20 with a score of 9.250.

Ithaca returns to action on Sunday, March 19, when it heads to Brockport, N.Y., for the NGCA Northeast Regionals. Action is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.
