ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College women's track & field team officially began its 2017-18 season on Saturday as the Bombers traveled over to the East Hill to compete in the Cornell University Greg Page Relays at Barton Hall.
Senior
Taryn Cordani blew away the field by nearly two minutes in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:57.00, which is good enough to qualify for the All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championships. Classmate
Denise Ibarra was the runner-up in 18:39.64.
The All-Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference (AARTFC) has now replaced the New York State Collegiate Track & Field Conference (NYSCTC). Ithaca will host this meet during the first weekend in March. At the end of this release, an entire list of AARTFC qualifiers is listed.
Senior
Sierra Grazia won the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:20.48, which was 11 seconds faster than the runner-up from Division II Mansfield.
Senior
Katherine Pitman also took top honors in the pole vault at 4.00 meters, as she was the lone entry in the field to move beyond 3.65 meters.
Sophomore
Sarah Rudge was a third place finisher in the 3K at 10:37.54. Junior
Emilie Mertz claimed fourth in the 5K at 19:00.34. Senior
Christina Rucinski completed the 5K in a time of 19:55.99 to finish in fifth.
In the 4x800-meter relay, sophomore
Jessica Competiello, junior
Maggie Nickerson, sophomore
Ria Russo and junior
Viktoria Schultz, came in third overall in 10:10.40.

Sophomore
Estelle Yedynak came in fourth overall in the high jump with a cleared mark of 1.58 meters, while freshman
Julia Nomberg took fifth in the pole vault at 3.35 meters.
Also running in the 4x4 was Competiello, Schultz, freshman Sarah Lachemayr and senior
Kassandra Reagan, and they finished sixth in 4:20.93.
Freshman
Sydney Strelec posted a mark of 10.71 meters in the triple jump to place sixth, while classmate
Samantha Healy was another sixth place finisher in the shot put at 11.79 meters.
Sophomore
Kelly Farrell completed the 5K in 20:37.25 to finish in seventh, while senior
Georgia Caplen followed in eighth 21:23.10. Junior
Jordan Beckley measured out 5.20 meters in the long jump to come in seventh place, while sophomore
Kendall Wellauer reached 11.66 meters in the shot put to take seventh.
Senior
Amber Edwards finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles during prelims and would go on to take eighth in the final with a time of 9.54 seconds – her prelim time was 9.33.
Senior
Caitlin Noonan registered an eighth place finish in the weight throw at 13.91 meters, while Rheaume took eighth in the 300-meter dash with a time of 41.80 seconds.
Ithaca will host its first meet of the season next Friday for a dual against Cortland in the Athletics & Events Center at 4 p.m.
