Men’s Track & Field Ready for 2017-18 Campaign

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field officially begins its 2017-18 season tomorrow morning at the Greg Page Relays at Cornell University. The meet over on East Hill is set to start at 10 a.m.

Ithaca, the 20-time Empire 8 Conference champions across the indoor and outdoor seasons, will now compete in the Liberty League and will look to maintain the same rate of success. The Bombers had won nine of the last 10 indoor titles as members of the Empire 8 and claimed eight straight during the outdoor season from 2007-14.

The Bombers return three conference relay champions from a season ago, along with five runners-up in the conference meets. Two other school record holders are also back for IC this upcoming campaign.

Ithaca's indoor and outdoor 4x400-meter relay squad of Gerardo Munoz, Derek Howes, Robert Greenwald and Daniel Harden-Marshall return to the track this winter and spring, while three of the four members from last year's distance medley relay team – John Blake, Aaron Smith and Logan Winningham – will also be competing this season.

Harden-Marshall was a runner-up in the indoor and outdoor 400-meter dash, as well as the outdoor long jump. Blake took second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, while Joseph Nally was a second-team honoree in the pole vault.

Seth Abbott is the school record holder in the decathlon with 6,272 points, while David Dorsey owns the indoor pole vault record with a mark of 4.70 meters.

Cross country all-region runner Forest Stewart will also factor into distance events throughout the season.

After the Greg Page Relays, Ithaca will host Cortland for a dual meet on December 8 at 4 p.m. to conclude its 2017 schedule. The Bombers will return home at the Athletics and Events Center for their annual Alumni Celebration on January 6 and then travel to the RIT Invitational and the Towson Invitational at the NYC Armory on the 13th. January concludes with a home quad on the 20th and then a split squad event at Cornell and Springfield on the 27th.

In February, Ithaca hosts its Invitational & Multi on the 3rd and 4th. IC will be on the road for the remainder of the month, which wraps up with the Liberty League Championships at St. Lawrence on the 23rd. The Bombers will then return home for the All Atlantic Region Track & Field Conference Championship on March 2-3, and the indoor seasons concludes with the NCAA Championships on the 9th and 10th in Birmingham, Ala.

The outdoor season for the men's program begins on March 31 at the Susquehanna University Invitational. For Ithaca's complete schedule, please follow this link.
