TROY, N.Y. – The No. 8 Ithaca College wrestling team continued its weekend of action in the Capital Region on Sunday when members of the squad returned to the mats for the Journeymen Collegiate Classic. The Bombers performed well on the afternoon, posting several victories over NCAA Division I and NCAA Division III opposition.
 
Ithaca posted several place finishers on the afternoon. Highlighting the action was Ithaca's nationally-ranked duo of 157-pounder Sammy Schneider (5^th NWCA) and 165-pounder Nick Velez (5^th NWCA). Both grapplers posted undefeated records on the day to take the championship in their respective pools.
 
Ithaca's 141-pound entrant, Ben Brisman, turned in a solid outing with a pair of victories over NCAA Division I opposition. He bested Hofstra's Charlie Kane in an 8-0 major decision, while he followed that with a 7-0 shutout decision over Ethan Phillips of The Citadel. He settled for second place in his pool after falling in the championship bout.
 
Also picking up a pair of victories on the day was 133-pounder Tito Colom, 184-pound standout Jake Ashcraft (10^th NWCA), and 184-pound entrant Jaison White. Colom scored a first period technical fall over Nicholas Long of The Citadel. He followed that with a 7-1 decision over Bryan Romero of LIU-Post. Both of Ashcraft's victories came by fall, as he scored first period pins of Chandler Sambets of The Citadel and Shane Mast of Kent State. White picked up a pair of close victories over Abraham Correa-Medina of American and Mitchell Laflam of Castleton. He took fifth in his pool.
 
Ithaca's 174-pound entrant Steven Rice and 165-pound grappler Anthony Fano also posted 2-1 records on the day. Rice scored a decision over Lane Hinkle of Kent State, before locking in a pin Castleton's Nolan Viens to score a fifth-place finish. Fano also dropped his first bout, before scoring back-to-back 9-4 decisions over Jackson Mordente of LIU-Post and Bryce Dempsey of American.
 
Ithaca returns to action on Sunday, November 19, when it heads to East Hill to take part in the New York State Collegiate Championships, hosted by Cornell. Action is slated to begin at 9:00 a.m.
