IWLCA WEEKLY POLL
ITHACA, N.Y. — After claiming the Empire 8's regular season championship with a thrilling 12-11 win over St. John Fisher College Saturday, the Ithaca College women's lacrosse team has entered the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches' Association's weekly top 20 poll.
The Bombers (12-4, 8-0 Empire 8) are ranked 19th following the Senior Day win over the Cardinals, who were ranked 19th in last week's poll. Ithaca has been receiving votes in the last few polls before breaking into the rankings this week after its 11th win in 13 games.
Junior
Morgan Cadwell registered a career-high seven points on four goals with three assists as the Bombers won the Empire 8 regular season championship and secured the No. 1 seed for the upcoming Empire 8 postseason tournament.
Ithaca will host the four-team Empire 8 postseason tournament at Higgins Stadium. IC will face No. 4 Nazareth College (11-5, 6-2) at 11 a.m. Saturday, with No. 2 Stevens (10-6, 6-2) playing No. 3 Fisher at 1 p.m.
The championship game is at 12 p.m. Sunday, with the winner earning the conference's automatic qualifier into the NCAA Division III tournament.
Cadwell, the Empire 8's Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week, scored three goals with one assist in the first half, and added one goal with two assists in the second as IC finished the regular season undefeated in conference play.
Sophomore
Kimberly Presuto played the final 47 minutes and equaled her career-high with 10 saves to earn her first win of the year. Ithaca took a 10-9 lead in the second half, and Presuto made six saves over the final 16:40 of the second half to make the lead stand.
The Bombers led the Empire 8 in scoring average (13.56 goals per game) and boast nine players with 12 or more points.
Junior
Morgan Racicot (36G, 28A) leads the team in both assists and points (64), and ranks fifth in points per game (4.0) in the conference. Senior
Riley Marion (43G, 9A) ranks fifth in the conference in goals per game (2.87) and is sixth in points/game (3.47).
Ithaca also has the third stingiest defense (8.31 goals/game) in the conference.
