CANTON, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's track & field teams concluded competition at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Multi Championships hosted by St. Lawrence University on Monday at the Merrick-Pinkard Track and Field Complex.
On the men's side, sophomore
Seth Abbott, who was named Empire 8 Conference Field Athlete of the Meet today, placed second in the decathlon with a personal-best total of 5943 points. Abbott surpassed his previous top mark by nearly 400 points.
He won the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:37.32 and was a runner-up in the javelin with a throw of 42.00 meters (137 feet, 9 inches) to highlight the second day of competition. Abbott also took third in the pole vault with a cleared height of 3.98 meters (13' 0.75") and the 110-meter hurdles at 16.62 seconds.
Junior
Tyler Denn-Thiele finished seventh overall in the decathlon with 4629 points, which is also a personal best by almost 300 points. Denn-Thiele tied with Abbott in the pole vault at 3.98 meters (13' 0.75"), and was fifth in the 1,500 with a time of 4:59.05.
For the women in the heptathlon, sophomore
Brianna Hayes led the way for the Bombers in fifth with 3734 points. Hayes won the 800-meter run by nearly six seconds with a time of 2:31.49 and was third in the javelin with a mark of 28.69 meters (94 feet, 1 inch).
Sophomore
Kassandra Reagan claimed seventh overall with 3553 and senior
Kristen Pompey followed in eighth at 3310.
Reagan finished fourth in the long jump at 4.53 meters (14' 10.5") and the javelin with a throw of 25.44 meters (83' 5").
Pompey took top honors in the javelin with a toss of 30.23 meters (99' 2") to highlight the second day.
Junior
Paige Agnew came in 12th overall at 2922 points, while sophomore
Catherine Larkin was 14th with 2617 points.
