D3football.com All-Region Teams | ECAC North All-Star Teams
ITHACA, N.Y. – D3football.com released its all-region teams last night, December 5, and two members of the Ithaca College program were recognized for their superb seasons in 2016. On Tuesday, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) also announced its all-star squad, and the same student-athlete earned accolades.
Junior
Jordan Schemm was named to the All-East First-Team as a returner and a second-team honoree as a cornerback. Fellow junior
Dan Loizos also found a spot on the second-team as a linebacker.
Schemm, the Special Teams Player of the Year in the Empire 8 Conference, averaged 17.1 yards per punt return (15 returns for 257 yards) with a long of 60 yards for a touchdown. On kickoffs, Schemm averaged 27.7 yards per return for a total of 443 yards, and notched a long of 59 yards this season. A native of Coral Springs, Fla., Schemm ranked second in the NCAA in punt return average and 18th in kick return average.
As a cornerback, Schemm notched 13 pass breakups, two interceptions, two fumble recoveries (one for a touchdown) and a forced fumble, to go along with 46 total tackles.
Loizos, a first-team selection by the E8, paced the Bombers' defense with 104 total tackles in 10 games played, with eight for a loss and 2.5 sacks. He also forced and recovered a fumble this season. On October 1 in a 23-14 victory over Utica, Loizos recorded 20 tackles, which culminated with a spot on the D3football.com Team of the Week.
Schemm and Loizos were voted ECAC North First-Team All-Stars. Schemm was recognized as a cornerback and return specialist, while Loizos was a linebacker.
