Seven From Women's Soccer Recognized by Empire 8

ITHACA, N.Y. – Seven members of the Ithaca College women's soccer team were honored on Thursday by the Empire 8 Conference for their contributions during the 2016 season.  Jocelyn Ravesi was named to the conference's First-Team while Megan Nash, Aimee Chimera and Lindsey Parkins were named Second-Team All-Conference.  Taylor Baranowsky and Holly Niemiec each received an Honorable Mention All-Conference while Cate Douglass was named the Conference's Sportswoman of the Year.

Ravesi had a breakout season as a senior.  The Fulton native led the team and ranked third among all conference players in goals (13), points, (33) and shots (71).  Ravesi also tied for the team lead with seven assists on the year.

The senior forward, who was named the Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week on October 24, started every game for head coach Mindy Quigg this season and notched four game-winning goals in 952 minutes of action.  Ravesi scored two goals or more in a game four times during the 2016 campaign including a four goal outburst against Elmira, which tied the program record for most goals scored in a single game.  On three occasions, Ravesi was credited with five points or more.

She concludes her time in an Ithaca uniform having played in 58 career games totaling 47 points overall.

An Honorable Mention last season, Nash earned a spot on the Conference's Second Team after tallying 16 points this season on six goals and four assists.  The senior midfielder ranked second on the team with three game-winning goals while her 65 shots was the fourth-highest total of any player in the Empire 8.

Nash was at her best on the big stage as the Saratoga Springs native accounted for five points in postseason play including three points in the title game of the Empire 8 Championship this season leading her to be named to the All-Tournament Team.
During her career, Nash appeared in every game for the Bombers (80) and amassed 36 points in total.

Chimera was also tabbed as Second-Team All-Conference after anchoring a Bombers' defense that allowed just over one goal per game this season.  Chimera, who was named the Empire 8's Defensive Player of the Year in 2015, started all 18 games for Ithaca and played in over 1,500 minutes.

A College Sports Information Director's of America Academic All-District honoree earlier this season, Chimera concluded her time on South Hill having been named All-Conference by the Empire 8 three times while also being named All-Region by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America in each of the last two seasons.

Overall, the Pipersville, Pa. native started all 80 games over the last four years and was named to the Empire 8 Championship's All-Tournament Team three times including this year.

For the third consecutive year, Parkins landed on the Conference's Second Team after starting all 18 games on defense this season.  Like Chimera, Parkins was a staple of Ithaca's backline that posted nine shutouts and held opponents to five shots or fewer in a game on seven occasions.

Over the last three seasons, Parkins has appeared in 55 games and has recorded five points.

Baranowsky, who has now received an Honorable Mention in each of her four seasons with the team, posted career-highs in goals (five), assists (two), points (12) and shots (37).  The senior midfielder ranked fourth on the team in scoring and started all 18 games this season.  Her biggest moment came in the 95th minute of the Empire 8 Championship semifinal last week after heading in the game-winning goal to lift the Bombers to a 1-0 win over Nazareth and a spot in the title game.  As a result, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.

The Moorestown, N.J. native, who was named Third-Team All-Region as a sophomore, started 78 games for Ithaca since 2013 and concludes her career with 31 points on 12 goals and seven assists.

Niemiec, who appeared on the Empire 8's All-Conference list for the third straight year, ranked third on the team with 13 points while her seven assists was tied for the team lead.  Her 39 shots also ranked third on the team and was among the Conference's leaders.

The Wilmington, Mass. native had one game-winning goal to her credit and scored a season-high two goals in a win over Utica College on September 28.

Niemiec will go down as one of the program's best passing forwards as she concludes her career ranked third all-time in career assists with 26 over 80 games.

Finally, Douglass was named the Conference's Sportswoman of the Year.  The Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
