2015 ITHACA INVITE FINAL RESULTS
ITHACA, N.Y. —Five student-athletes captured championships in their respective weight classes as the Ithaca College wrestling team kicked off the 2015-16 season by winning the 32
nd annual Ithaca Invitational, Friday and Saturday inside Glazer Arena.
Senior
Eamonn Gaffney won the championship at 157 pounds, senior
Dan Pak won at 149 pounds, junior
Jimmy Kaishian won at 125 pounds, junior
Nick Wahba was victorious at 141 pounds, and junior
Carlos Toribio claimed a title at 174 pounds as Ithaca scored 163 points.
Nine student-athletes advanced into the finals of their weight classes, including at 141 where it was an all-Bomber final. Wahba held off freshman
Demitri D'Orsaneo 2-1 to win at 141 pounds.
Kaishian survived an overtime match with Rob Murray (Stevens) before prevailing 5-4 in a tiebreaker at 125 pounds.
Pak handed Zach Wilhelm (Stevens) a 3-2 decision to win at 149, while Gaffney decisioned Raymond Jazikoff (NYU) 7-6 to claim a title at 157.
Toribio rounded out Ithaca's weight-class winners, knocking off Brandon Conrad (Rhode Island College) 9-4 at 184 pounds.
Sophomore
Nick Velez placed second at 165 pounds after falling to Colin Navickas (Stevens) 5-4 in the championship.
Sophomore
Bryan Israel (133) and senior
Zack Conner (197) placed second in their classes, while sophomore
Chris Wymer (133), senior
Henry Beaman (141), freshman
Jake Ashcraft (184), senior
Dan Glinko (197), and junior
Matt Booth (285) claimed third-place finishes in their classes.
Junior
Jake Powell finished fourth at 141, freshman
Johnny Stramiello was fifth at 125, freshman
Jawan Jones was fifth at 149, and freshman
Ferdinand Mase was sixth at 125 for the Bombers, ranked fifth in the country by the National Wrestling Coaches' Association.
Stevens finished second (137.5), followed by Springfield College (111.5), New York University (97.5), Norwich (77.5), RIT (68), Oswego (66), Daniel Webster (42), Rhode Island College (37.5), Western New England (29), Springfield Tech (24.5), and Alfred State (15).
The Bombers travel to Wilkes Barre, Pa. for Saturday's annual John Reese Duals before hosting the New York State Collegiates championships Sunday, Nov. 22.
