Baseball Alum Tim Locastro Selected For Northwest League All-Star Game

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College baseball alum Tim Locastro, a member of the Class-A Vancouver Canadians in the Toronto Blue Jays organization, has been selected to the Northwest League All-Star Game. It is the second professional season for Locastro after a standout career for the Bombers. This season for Vancouver, Locastro has played in 35 games and has a .313 batting average. Locastro has three doubles, one home run and 12 RBIs along with 25 runs scored. He has stolen 16 bases in 17 attempts this year, which ranks tied for second in the league in stolen bases. His batting average is 10th among all players in the Northwest League and he is tied for ninth in runs scored.

Locastro played for the Bombers in the 2011, 2012 and 2013 seasons and earned all-American honors by both the American Baseball Coaches Association and D3baseball.com in 2013. Also in 2013, a year in which Ithaca placed third at the NCAA Division III Baseball Championships, Locastro was Empire 8 Player of the Year. He set program single-season records in runs (71) and stolen bases (40). He also led all NCAA Division III players in reaching base via being hit by a pitch 29 times, which was also a school record. Locastro batted .436 with 13 doubles, six triples and four home runs in 2013. He was part of an Ithaca baseball team that set a school record with 41 wins.

Locastro was selected by the Toronto Blue Jays organization in the 13th round of the 2013 MLB Entry Draft with the 385th overall pick. He spent his rookie season of professional baseball with the Bluefield Blue Jays of the Appalachian League. He is one of seven members of the Vancouver Canadians to make the Northwest League All-Star Game, which will be held Aug. 5 in Eugene, Oregon. Vancouver has the best overall record in the Northwest League at 25-14 this season.
