VARESE, Italy – Former Ithaca crew captain,
Erik Frid, earned a spot on the
2014 Under-23 U.S. National Team late last week. He placed first in the double sculls at the Under 23 World Championship Trials on Mercer Lake with a time of 6:40.37 to obtain a position in the lineup.
Frid will compete with Walter Banfield in the double sculls in Varese, Italy. All events will take place July 23-27, as a total of 17 crews will represent the United States.
Frid rowed in the 7 seat for the men's varsity 8 the last two seasons and helped the Bombers to a fourth place finish in the varsity 8 grand final at the ECAC Championships. The spot marked the highest finish in 22 years of competition for the Bombers at the ECAC Championships.
