ITHACA, N.Y. -- Ithaca College announced that it has hired
Rich Bonfiglio as its full-time assistant coach for men's and women's tennis. Bonfiglio brings extensive tennis background as both a player and coach to the Ithaca tennis teams.

Bonfiglio has served as assistant tennis coach at Trinity College, his alma mater, for the last three seasons with the men's tennis program and for the 2013-14 season with the women's tennis program. Both Bantam programs held national rankings in that time, including a program-best ranking of 14th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for the women's team in 2014. Bonfiglio contributed to the teams by conducting tennis instruction and conditioning sessions and was also involved in administrative duties for the programs including scheduling, budget and communications. He also has coaching experience and has helped develop of junior tennis programs at country clubs and tennis academies.

Bonfiglio's collegiate playing career began at Middlebury where he was a member of the starting lineup in singles and doubles for the nationally-ranked Panthers during his freshman and sophomore seasons. He transferred to Trinity for his final two years of eligibility and played third singles and second doubles for the Bantams as a junior. In his senior season he moved up to the second singles and first doubles positions in the lineup and was an All-New England Small Colleges Athletic Conference selection as well as a team captain. In both of his seasons as a player at Trinity, the team finished ranked inside the top-20 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings.

Bonfiglio earned a bachelor's degree in public policy and law from Trinity College in 2011 and completed his master's degree in public policy in May. He is a native of Bronxville, N.Y. and will begin his tenure with the Ithaca coaching staff in August.
