Empire 8 Recognizes Scheemaker, Potter with Year-End Outdoor T&F Awards

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Empire 8 announced its year-end outdoor track & field awards Thursday. Ithaca College junior Emilia Scheemaker was named Empire 8 Field Athlete of the Year and head coach Jennifer Potter earned Empire 8 Coach of the Year praise.
 
Scheemaker secured her first outdoor all-America honor in May with an eighth-place finish in the triple jump. The two-time all-American placed third in the event at the ECAC Championships, second at the NYSCTC Championships and won the triple at the E8 Championships. Scheemaker also placed second in the long at the conference meet and seventh at the state meet.
 
Potter was awarded her seventh consecutive conference outdoor coach of the year award. She guided the Bombers to their 10th Empire 8 outdoor championship in the 11-year history of the sport in the conference, before leading Ithaca to its sixth straight NYSCTC crown. Ithaca went on to place third out of 61 teams at the ECAC Championship.
