Men's Varsity 8 Cruises To Second Place At State Championships

WHITNEY POINT, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's crew took part in the New York State Collegiate Rowing Championships this past weekend on Whitney Point Lake. The Bombers competed in five event grand finals and earned three top-three finishes. The event was highlighted by a second place finish in the varsity 8.

The team of Darvin Perez (coxswain), Matthew Kurz, Erik Frid, Chris Noble, Andrew Voorhees, Paul Casey, Ethan Freedman, Charlie Enright and Tyler Edwards placed second overall in the varsity 8 with a time of 6:20.94. Hobart took first overall with a time of 6:18.69, while the US Military Academy finished in a time of 6:26.02 to take third. The Bombers reached the grand final with a second place finish in their respective heat on Saturday, completing the race in a time of 6:26.73.

The novice 8 took second in the grand final with a time of 6:59.27, finishing just behind RIT's first place time of 6:59.18. Other Bomber finishes included third overall in the JV8 (6:54.62 ), a sixth place finish in the varsity 4 (7:36.43) and a fourth place finish in the 3V8 (7:18.14).
