Bomber Men's T&F Team Tallies Sixth Consecutive Top-Three Finish at States

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's track & field team scored 101 points to place third out of 13 teams at the 2014 New York State Collegiate Track Conference outdoor championships Saturday at St. John Fisher. Ithaca recorded six ECAC marks on the day and placed in the top three for the 15th time in Ithaca's 28-year involvement with the conference. The Bombers had 16 individual and two relay All-NYSCTC finishes during day two of competition.

The Bombers set a Polisseni Track and Field Complex facility record in the 4x100-meter relay. Ithaca's team of junior Rashaad Barrett, sophomore Aaron Matthias and juniors Kevin Davis and Tyler Curtis clocked an ECAC-good time of 42.33 to win the event.
 
Sophomore Sawyer Hitchcock won the 3,000 steeplechase in an ECAC-qualifying time of 9:25.49. Classmate Stephen Gomez placed fourth in 9:43.04.
 
Ithaca hit a pair of ECAC qualifiers in the high jump and another in the triple jump. Sophomore Andrew Brandt placed third in the high with a clear of 1.98 meters. Senior Brendan Wilkins followed in sixth with a height of 1.93 meters. Sophomore De'Marquis Graves finished seventh in the triple jump with a mark of 13.56 meters.
 
The Bombers placed four in the 100 dash and three in the 200. Barrett paced Ithaca in the 100 with an ECAC-qualifying time of 11.01 to finish third. Matthias was fourth in 11.12, Davis sixth in 11.27 and Curtis seventh in 11.36. Curtis, Barrett and Davis placed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 200 clocking times of 22.71, 22.79 and 22.84.
 
Junior Mason Mann crossed the finish line fourth in the 800 with a time of 1:56.02. Sophomore Larkin Bohanan placed eighth in 1:57.20.
 
Junior Matt Femia raced to a fifth-place finish of 50.94 in the 400 and senior Brennan Edmonds finished fifth in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.09.
 
Mann, sophomore Jordan Smith, Femia and Edmonds teamed together to close out track events with a fourth-place finish of 3:24.02 in the 4x400 relay.
 
The Bombers will return to action Saturday, May 10 at Oneonta's May Meet.
