Schaeffer And Kurz Garner All-ECAC Recognition

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the National Invitational Rowing Championship (NIRC) Stewards announced the 2013-2014 Men's and Women's All-ECAC NIRC teams Thursday morning. Seniors Julie Schaeffer and Matthew Kurz were chosen to represent Ithaca, marking the first career selection for both athletes. A total of 42 student-athletes were chosen from 27 institutions.

Schaeffer rowed in the varsity 8 as a junior and senior. She helped the Bombers to a NCAA bid in 2013, and was a NIRC Stewards all-America selection the past two seasons. Schaeffer was recently the recipient of the James K. Harris Memorial Award.

Kurz is a four year crew member and has rowed in the stroke seat of the varsity 8 for the past three seasons. He helped the Bombers to a fourth place finish in the grand final of the men's varsity 8 at the ECAC Championships, marking the best finish in program history.
