SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Ithaca College gymnastics team placed fifth at the 2014 ECAC Division III Gymnastics Championships hosted by Springfield College on Saturday. Ithaca will return to action and conclude its season when the Bombers host the NCGA Championships March 21-22 at Ben Light Gymnasium. Ithaca posted its second-best team score of the season along with the highest score of the year on balance beam at the ECACs. Three individuals placed in the top-10 in event standings. Ithaca totaled 179.550 at the meet.
Ithaca started its day on uneven bars and scored 43.400 led by
Shilanna Gallo with a score of 9.25 which tied for 10th and
Rani Jacobson with a 9.2 that earned 13th place on bars. It was the highest score of the year for Jacobson on the bars.
On balance beam, Ithaca totaled a season-high 45.275, with three gymnasts scoring 9.2 or higher.
Lara Haberle's routine earned a 9.325 and placed her 10th in the individual standings.
Megan Harrington earned a 9.3 and tied for 11th, her best score of the season, and
Alexis Mena posted 9.2 to place 14th.
Ingrid Calfee led Ithaca on the floor exercise with a score of 9.375 and 13th-place finish on that event. That score matched her season and career-best, which was established in Ithaca's previous meet one week earlier. Mena had a 9.2 on floor and
Ashleigh Hood scored a career-best 9.1.
The Bombers finished on the vault and totaled 45.875 with four gymnasts scoring 9.2 or higher. Jacobson led the way with a 9.425 to finish tied for 13th. Calfee scored 9.3, Harrington totaled 9.275 and Mena had 9.2.
Megan Harrington scored 36.075 to finish seventh in all-around.
