ITHACA, N.Y. – Three members of the Ithaca College women's swimming and diving team have been chosen to represent the Bombers at the NCAA DIII Championships being held in Indianapolis, Ind. Swimmer
Grace Ayer along with divers
Nickie Griesemer and
Heather Markus have all been chosen to compete after meeting the NCAA qualifying standards.
Ayer will be making her first appearance at the NCAA Championships. She dominated at the UNYSCSA / Empire 8 Championships at the end of last month, earning eight all-state honors and four UNYSCSA Championships. Ayer, who was also named UNYSCSA Swimmer of the Meet, will compete in the 100-yard backstroke, the 200-yard backstroke and the 200-yard individual medley.
Griesemer will also be making her first NCAA Championship appearance. She was named the UNYSCSA / Empire 8 Diver of the Meet after finishing first in the 3-meter dive. Griesemer also earned all-state honors in the 1-meter dive, taking third overall and second in the Empire 8. She will compete on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
Markus was named the UNYSCSA Champion on the 1-meter board, also earning the title of Empire 8 Champion. She earned all-state marks after finishing third on the 3-meter dive. Markus, who is headed to her first NCAA Championships, will compete on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards.
The NCAA DIII Championships are slated to take place on March 19-22.
