Bombers Put Up 12 Second-Half Scores to Rout Connecticut College, 15-5

CLERMONT, Fla. – The Ithaca College women's lacrosse team (1-2) picked up its first win of the season Tuesday at the National Training Center in Clermont, Fla. The Bombers posted 12 second-half scores to upend Connecticut College (1-2), 15-5.

The Camels tallied the game's first two goals, but Ithaca rattled off 10 consecutive scores, bridging the halves, to lead 10-2 with 19 minutes lingering in the game. Connecticut College snapped its scoring drought on the next draw before Ithaca instated a running clock with a 10-goal gap at 14:11. The teams traded two goals each in the final 10 minutes of play for a 15-5 final.

Junior Molly Fischer and sophomores Riley Marion and Ally Runyon each netted hat tricks. Runyon and junior Natalie Lang added game-highs of two assists apiece. Lang also had one goal. Sophomore Taylor Purvis chipped in two scores and one assist. Senior Becky Guzzo scored once and assisted once and juniors Niki Standera and Emily Peters tallied one each to round out the season-high goal total for the Bombers.

Fischer won a Bomber-best four draws and senior Anya Eckhardt scooped up three ground balls. Rookie Emily Ross recorded her first career victory with a 12-save performance between the pipes.

Connecticut College edged Ithaca in shots, 23-21, and held a 19-14 margin in ground balls. Ithaca, who was 4-of-5 in free position shots, won 13 draws to the Camels' 11.

Ithaca will face its third top-10 opponent of the season in sixth-ranked Gettysburg on Thursday, March 13 at 3 p.m.
