Big First Inning Carries Pomona-Pitzer Past Ithaca Baseball

Box Score CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The host Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens scored eight runs in the bottom of the first inning and went on to a 15-7 win over the Ithaca College baseball team Monday evening in California. Ithaca fell to 2-3 on the season and will take on Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Tuesday.

After falling behind by eight runs, the Bombers got back into the contest with four runs in the top of the third. Jared Amory and Joey Randazzo started the rally with singles. An error on the center fielder allowed one run to score, and three other runs scored without the ball being put in play. With the bases loaded, Colby Gee was hit by a pitch and later in the inning Zach Cole and Luke Stark drew bases-loaded walks.

Cole added an RBI single in the seventh for Ithaca and Ryan Henchey drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in another run. The Bombers added one more in the top of the ninth on an RBI double for Henchey.

Henchey was 2-for-2 and reached base three times for Ithaca. Tim Henry also had two hits.
