INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Ithaca College women's basketball team (21-4, 13-1 Empire 8) maintained possession of the top spot in the NCAA East Region Rankings for the 2013-14 season. The NCAA regional rankings released Wednesday are based on the same criteria used to select and seed teams for the NCAA playoffs. Ithaca, who has played two top-five teams this season, is receiving votes in the latest WBCA and D3Hoops.com polls.

The Bombers won their sixth straight Empire 8 regular-season title Saturday with a win over Alfred, while increasing their winning streak to 13.

The win secures Ithaca the top seed for the Empire 8 Championship Tournament to be held Friday and Saturday, Feb. 28 and March 1 at Ben Light Gymnasium. Ithaca will play fourth-seeded St. John Fisher in a 6 p.m. semifinal game Friday, while second-seeded Hartwick will play third-seeded Stevens in the other semifinal at 8 p.m. The championship game will be played at 4 p.m. Saturday.
