Haberle, Gallo Win Events In Gymnastics Meet At Ursinus

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- The Ithaca College gymnastics team improved its team score by more than seven full points in its second meet of the season at Ursinus. Ithaca scored 170.600, while the host Bears totaled 183.350. Ithaca's Shilanna Gallo placed first on the uneven bars and Lara Haberle was first on the balance beam.

Ithaca scored 43.350 on vault, led by Rani Jacobson with a score of 9.325. She placed second on vault, and Megan Harrington was third overall with a score of 9.2.

Harrington was the lone competitor on all-around in the meet and scored 34.525.

Gallo scored a season-best 9.3 on bars to help Ithaca to a team score of 40.425 on that event, an approximate eight-point improvement from the opening meet. It is the second consecutive week that Gallo led the Bombers on the bars.

On balance beam, Haberle's career-best score of 9.45 claimed first-place honors as Ithaca's lineup scored 42.5 on beam. Four Ursinus gymnasts scored 9.1 or better on beam.

Ingrid Calfee was Ithaca's leading performer on the floor exercise with a score of 9.05, a career-best score for her. She placed sixth in that event.

Ithaca will return to action Saturday at home facing Ursinus again, along with the first meeting of the year against Springfield, at 11 a.m. at Ben Light Gymnasium.
