ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca College gymnastics team (0-1) began its 2014 campaign with a score of 163.475 in the newly-renovated Ben Light Gymnasium. Visiting Brockport scored 185.325.

Due to several injuries, Ithaca competed just four gymnasts on uneven bars and five on vault and floor exercise. Brockport had first-place finishers in the four individual events. Ithaca's Megan Harrington was the only all-around competitor and scored 35.375.

Ithaca's top finisher in individual events was Shilanna Gallo, who took fourth on uneven bars with a score of 9.025. Lara Haberle scored a 9.1 on balance beam in her competitive varsity debur and finished fifth overall on that event. Harrington was Ithaca's top finisher on vault with a 9.15 and placed sixth. Freshman Alexis Mena made her varsity debut and took fifth on floor exercise with a score of 8.975.

The Bombers return to action Sunday, Jan. 19 at Ursinus.
