ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team (3-0) defeated Oswego (0-2) Wednesday night, dropping the Lakers by a score of 5-2 at Higgins Stadium. Junior Danielle Coiro scored two goals in the contest, while seniors Lindsay Flanagan, Katie Kennedy and sophomore Olivia Salindong each scored once for the Bombers. Freshman Katie Lass made six saves on eight shots, pushing her record to 3-0 on the year.
Salindong scored the first goal of the game early, giving Ithaca the lead in the fifth minute. Oswego answered with goals at 6:50 and 29:08 to pull ahead of the Bombers by a score of 2-1.
Coiro evened the game with just three minutes left in the first half, scoring her first goal of the season on an assist from sophomore Caitlin O'Brien.
In the second half, Ithaca scored three-straight goals and held the visiting Lakers scoreless on just two shots allowed. Kennedy opened second-half scoring with a goal at 36:47. Flanagan followed with her fourth goal of the season in the 40th minute, pushing the score to 4-2 in favor of the Bombers.
Coiro scored her second goal of the night at 60:35, sealing the 5-2 victory for the Bombers. Coiro's two-goal output marked her first multi-goal game as a Bomber, while her five-point night also marked a new career high.
The Bombers are back in action on Sept. 7 against Morrisville in their first road contest of the season.
