Host Ithaca Medals Twice In Sculling Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College sculling program successfully hosted its season-opening fall regatta on Sunday, Sept. 29 on the Cayuga Inlet. It was the first fall regatta ever hosted by Ithaca College. Colgate came with seven crews and William Smith sent two singles. All crews enjoyed flat water and beautiful weather.

The event included a 2k time trial race against the clock, followed by a 1k sprint race. In the 1K sprint, crews were paired by time (not boat class) for head-to-head racing. Overall winners in each event were determined by doubling a crew's 1k time and adding it to their 2k time. Medals were awarded to the top finishers in five event categories, with Ithaca taking the top spot in the double and lightweight double.

The Ithaca contingent consisted of:

Single: Julia Schaeffer

Lightweight Single: Dominique Lessard

A-Double; Stephanie Zang and Anna Schenk*

B-Double: Madison Averett and Chloe Lewis

Lightweight Double: Caroline Dykstra and Sara Muroski*

A –Quad:  Kellie Parker (coxswain), Stevie Theoharidis, Lindsay Beatty, Megan Barry and Maureen Gildea (scullers)
