Box Score

ONEONTA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team (5-1, 1-0) suffered its first loss of the season Wednesday afternoon, falling to the Oneonta Red Dragons (5-2) by a score of 3-2 at All College Field. Sophomore Caitlin O'Brien aided in the first  Ithaca goal, firing a shot on net that deflected off an Oneonta defender for a team score. Freshman Cassie Schuttrumpf scored for the Bombers, while fellow freshman Katie Lass made a career-high 16 saves on 20 shots.

The Bombers got on the board early, scoring an own goal just 3:36 into the opening frame.

After Oneonta evened the contest with a goal in the 22nd minute, the Bombers pulled ahead again roughly three minutes later. Schuttrumpf scored her first collegiate goal at 26:16 on a feed from fellow freshman Kelly Consadine.

The Red Dragons answered back in the opening portion of the second half, as Oneonta scored goals in the 41st and 46th minutes to wrestle the lead back from the Bombers.

Ithaca recorded four-straight shots in the closing minutes of the contest, but were unable to score again, giving Oneonta the 3-2 victory.

The Bombers are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 21 in a road game against Susquehanna.
