GENESEO, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's soccer team (0-4) lost to Geneseo (2-2-1) late Saturday afternoon, falling to the Knights by a score of 2-1. Freshman
Sean Forward scored the lone goal for the Bombers, while sophomore
Kenny Chapman stopped 4-of-6 shots in the loss.
Ithaca got on the board first, scoring the game's first goal just 5:12 into the first half. Forward collected a loose ball in the box after a Bomber free kick and fired a shot past the Geneseo goalkeeper. Forward's goal marked the first of his collegiate career and gave the Bombers a 1-0 lead.
The Knights answered in the 12th minute. Geneseo fired a corner kick towards the Ithaca goal mouth where the ball deflected off a Bomber defender. The deflection snuck past Chapman, tying the contest at 1-1.
Geneseo scored the only goal of the second half, netting the game winner in the 65th minute of play. The Bombers were unable to score again in the contest, giving Geneseo the 2-1 victory.
Ithaca returns home on Sept. 21 to open Empire 8 play against St. John Fisher at Carp Wood Field. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
