ITHACA, N.Y. – Saturday morning Bomber alumni and their families joined the Ithaca College men's and women's cross country teams to race in the annual five-kilometer Jannette Bonrouhi-Zakaim Memorial Run.
The run, named after late Ithaca College Athletic Hall of Famer and seven-time All-American, Jannette Bonrouhi-Zakaim, allowed the current team members to race against several cross country alumni in preparation for their 2013 season. Both teams open the season on Sept. 7 at the Oswego Invitational.
Prior to the 5K, a competition amongst many of the alumni's children, the kids' run, took place. The children were outfitted in t-shirts that read Ithaca College Cross Country "Will Be," while the alumni wore a phrase that indicated that they once were Bomber cross country athletes.
The race proves to be the only time during the season that the squads compete on their home soil.
