Box Score ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team (1-0) opened the 2013 season with an impressive win Friday evening, defeating the Wells Express (0-1) by a score of 8-0 at Higgins Stadium. Ithaca's eight-goal output marked the first time since an 8-1 win over Morrisville on Sept. 1, 2012 that the Bombers have scored eight goals in a contest.
Five different players scored for the Bombers, including two-goal efforts from seniors
Lindsay Flanagan and
Katie Kennedy. Freshman
Lauren Delia also netted two goals on five shots in the first career game. Both goaltenders saw time for the Bombers, as freshman
Katie Lass and sophomore
Blaire Janney each played a half between the pipes.
Ithaca recorded a total of 21 shots on goal and held the Express to just one total shot. Junior
Amber Foose and sophomore
Caitlin O'Brien also scored for the Bombers. O'Brien's goal marked the first of her collegiate career.
Ithaca's next game is a 2 p.m. start against Brockport on Saturday, Aug. 31 at Higgins Stadium.
