DOVER, Del. -- The 24th-ranked Ithaca College football team (9-2) travels to 15th-ranked Wesley College for an NCAA Division III Football Championship second-round game at Scott D. Miller Stadium. The game begins at noon Saturday. Online coverage links, articles and game notes are available.
Ithaca qualified for the tournament as champions of the Empire 8, and defeated Framingham State 20-17 in a first-round game at Butterfield Stadium. Wesley, which plays as an independent, earned an at-large selection to the NCAAs. Wesley won its first-round game 29-24 at Johns Hopkins.
Ithaca is making its 18th appearance in the Division III tournament and has a 28-14 record in 42 NCAA games, including national championships in 1979, 1988 and 1991. Ithaca has played in the Stagg Bowl for the national championship seven times. Wesley is making its 10th appearance in the NCAAs and has advanced to the second round or further in each of the last nine years, including 2013. Wesley has advanced to the NCAA Division III semifinals five times, but has never appeared in the national title game. Wesley owns an all-time NCAA Tournament record of 21-9 in its 10 appearances.
