ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College men's and women's soccer teams both earned
National Collegiate Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Academic Awards on Thursday. The honor makes Ithaca one of only 186 institutions across all three divisions to have both its men and women honored. To earn the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2012-13 academic year, a program must post a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
The women finished the 2012-13 academic year with a 3.55 GPA. They have earned the honor 10 times since the award's inception in 1996, including 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
The men's team has won the award three times (2010, 2011 and 2013), all coming within the last four seasons. They finished the 2012-13 academic year with a 3.38 GPA
Along with Houghton, an affiliate member of the conference, Ithaca is one of only two institutions in the Empire 8 to have both its men and women honored by the NSCAA.
