Bombers Earn 5-2 Win Over Fisher After Second Half Surge

Box Score
ITHACA, N.Y. –The Ithaca College field hockey team (9-6, 3-3) defeated St. John Fisher Saturday evening, dropping the Cardinals by a score of 5-2 at Higgins Stadium. Junior Danielle Coiro led the way offensively for the Bombers with two goals on the day. Junior Amber Foose, sophomore Olivia Salindong and senior Katie Kennedy each added a goal in the victory. Freshman goalkeeper Katie Lass made five saves on seven shots, pushing her record to 9-6 overall on the year.

Fisher scored first, sneaking a shot past Lass on a scrum in front in the third minute to take the early 1-0 lead.

The Bombers responded with back-to-back goals in the 11th and 13th minutes to jump out to a 2-1 advantage. Sophomore Taylor O'Neil assisted on the first Ithaca score, sending a pass across the slot to Foose who slammed home the shot on the far post. Coiro scored her first of the day less than two minutes later, sneaking a loose ball in front past the Fisher goalkeeper to put the Bombers ahead.

The Cardinals scored again in the 22nd minute, evening the score at 2-2 after one half of play.
Just 7:32 into the second half, the Bombers scored to once again take the lead. Senior Emily Lash started the play with a pass out on a penalty corner. Her pass found Salindong, who then sent a shot towards the Cardinal net. Coiro tipped the ball in front, marking her second goal of the day.

The Bombers continued to pour on the offense, adding goals from Salindong (51:05) and Kennedy (69:35). Ithaca's offensive output in the second half proved to be too much for the visiting Cardinals, as the Bombers pulled away to earn the 5-2 victory.

Ithaca is back in action on Nov. 2 in a home contest against conference foe, Hartwick. The game is set to start at 1 p.m.
