UTICA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College field hockey team (6-3, 1-2 E8) lost to Utica Wednesday evening, falling to the Pioneers by a score of 4-0 at Charles A. Gaetano Field. Senior Emily Lash led the Bombers with two shots on goal, while freshman goalkeeper Katie Lass stopped 11-of-15 shots in the loss. Utica finished the contest with a 9-3 advantage in penalty corners.
The Pioneers scored their first goal in the19th minute, beating Lass off a penalty corner for the 1-0 lead. The Bombers held strong defensively for the remainder of the frame, sending the game to halftime trailing just 1-0.
Utica scored two quick goals in the second half, beating Lass in the 41st and 46th minutes for a 3-0 lead. The Pioneers scored a final goal in the 66th minute, securing the 4-0 conference win for Utica.
The Bombers finish their two-game road swing with another Empire 8 game against Nazareth. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
