Bombers Lose At Washington & Jefferson, 2-1

WASHINGTON, Pa. –The Ithaca College field hockey team  (8-6, 2-3 E8) lost a close game to Washington & Jefferson (10-5, 2-3 E8) Saturday afternoon, falling to the Presidents by a score of 2-1. Senior Lindsay Flanagan scored the lone Bomber goal, while freshman goalkeeper Katie Lass stopped 6-of-8 shots against in the loss.

Washington & Jefferson scored the first goal of the game early, netting a shot following a penalty corner in the third minute of play. The Presidents followed up with a second goal in the 24th minute, coming off another penalty corner for a 2-0 lead. 

The Bombers responded with their only goal in the 40th minute. Junior Danielle Coiro started the play with a flurry of shots on the Presidents' net. Flanagan took possession of the ball on the scrum in front and netted her seventh goal of the season to cut the Presidents' lead to 2-1.

Despite the early second half rally, Ithaca was unable to score again, giving Washington & Jefferson the 2-1 victory.

The Bombers are back in play on Oct. 26 in a conference match against St. John Fisher at Higgins Stadium. The game is set to start at 5 p.m.
