GENEVA, N.Y. -- The Ithaca women's sculling team made its competitve debut at the Hobart and William Smith Canal Challenge in Geneva. The Bomber sculling boats raced against each other, comprised of three doubles and one coxed quad. The double of
Rebecca Lee and
Delaney Pfohl finished first in a time of 19 minutes, 10 seconds. That group was followed by Tessa Van Der Veeken and
Rachel Mevissen in 19:24.
The coxed quad boat finished third, and the double of
Cassidy Goepel and
Madison Vander Hill was fourth.
Ithaca will compete Oct. 13 at the University of Massachusetts against the host school and Tufts. That event will consist of two 5K races. All team members will race in a small boat (singles or doubles) as well as a team coxed quad.
