Associated with crew since enrolling at Ithaca College in 1975, Dan Robinson completed his 34th year as head coach in 2020-21. He’s had 42 years of coaching experience in all, including stints with the novice, women’s and men’s crews.
The men’s lightweight crew captured the New York State Small School Championship in 1990, 1994, and 1996. The heavyweights won in 1993, 2009 and 2012 and placed second in 1990, 1991 and 2014. Robinson has guided Ithaca to nine top-10 finishes at the ECAC National Invitational Rowing Championships.
In the Bombers' first year in the Liberty League in 2018, IC's Varsity 8 finished second at the conference championships. The boat also finished fourth at the New York State Championships and sixth at the National Invitational Rowing Championships. Two rowers of the guidance of Robinson were named to the All-Liberty League Men's Rowing Team - Stephen Cadoux and Eric Stamer.
In 2019, Robinson and his staff were named Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year. Additionally, Hunter Flamm earned All-Liberty League recognition. As a team, IC's Second Varsity 8 finished the season strong with a win at the New York State Championships.
The 2020-21 crew finished second at the Liberty League Championships during the abbreviated season, which featured four regattas prior to the Liberty League races.
