Tracey Houk

Tracey Houk completed her 20th year at the helm of the field hockey program in 2015. Houk has led the Bombers to four NCAA playoff appearances (most recently a trip to the regionals in 2000), and has an overall record of 171-187. She has coached four All-Americans and led Ithaca to within a game of the 1997 NCAA semifinals.

Houk and her assistant, Maureen Ordnung, were named Empire 8 Conference Coaching Staff of the Year in 2015. The Bombers posted a 13-5 overall record in 2015 and clinched the top seed for the conference tournament for the first time in program history. In the semifinals of the tournament, Ithaca topped Washington & Jefferson, 2-0, for its first win in the conference playoffs.

Houk came to Ithaca after two years as head coach at Division II Mansfield University, where she compiled a 9-19-1 record, including a 6-8-1 mark in 1995 that was a three-game improvement over the previous year. Houk was head coach at Massachusetts-Lowell in 1993.

Houk earned a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education from North Carolina-Chapel Hill in 1989. She helped the Tar Heels win four Atlantic Coast Conference field hockey titles during her career. She served as an assistant coach for one season at Bloomsburg University in 1989 and was a graduate assistant coach for two years at Ohio University, earning a master’s degree in physical education in 1992. Houk returned to Bloomsburg and helped guide the Huskies to the 1992 Division II national championship game.

Houk is also an instructor in the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance.
